PNW Fest —

PNW Fest is an event of my own creation, based on a Seattle Sounders, OL Reign double header soccer game that I attended in the summer of 2021. I created an imaginary soccer/music festival called PNW Fest, which would again be a doubleheader featuring the Seattle Sounders vs. The Portland Timbers and The OL Reign vs. The Portland Thorns. However, PNW Fest would have more of an emphasis on the music and food that makes the Pacific Northwest Unique. I used the grunge movement as inspiration, something deeply rooted in Seattle. The end deliverables were a wordmark, set color palette, wayfinding icons, promotional posters, and merchandise.

I created a wordmark that featured ChesterDrawers by Chank Fonts, a font designer from the PNW, and the silhouette of the aerial view of Lumen Field, the location of the proposed event.

For the promotional video I showed the origins of the wordmark and emphasized the grunge theme using audio from Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. I overlayed the song with the audio of the Seattle Sounders scoring in their second MLS cup win.

merchandise for the event: a scarf, mini flag and t-shirt

I leaned into the greens and blues prominent in the Seattle skyline as well as add a pinkish purple to give the palette a summer vibe.
